Apple has gone for a serious, philosophical tone in its new iPad ad, urging users to embrace their creativity and positioning the tablet as a tool for inspiration and creation.
Titled ‘Your Verse’, the ad features actor Robin Williams reciting dialogue about poetry and life from the film Dead Poets Society against a beautiful backdrop of mountains, waterfalls, and storms. Instead of showing the iPad being used in mundane everyday situations, we see it being utilized in a variety of settings from filming to writing, to sketching prototypes. The ad ends with the tagline ‘What will your verse be?’
Apple seems to be shifting away from highlighting the capabilities of its products to focusing on the many creative possibilities they hold, and the ways in which technology can enhance our lives.
Stirring and emotional, the ad sends the message that everyone has something to contribute to the world around them, be it in the areas of photography, music, dance, sport, or film. A detailed list of the uses depicted in the ad can be found on its microsite.
