Brazilian Artists Reinterpret All 152 Original Pokémon Characters

Those of us who grew up playing Pokémon on our Game Boys and swapping collectible cards harbor fond memories of navigating the Kanto landscape training our team of pocket monsters, earning badges, battling enemies, and of course trying to catch ‘em all.

Inspired by the ‘Kanto Pokedex Project’ by Justin Chan, a group of Brazilian artists has come up with their own interpretation of the original Pokémon characters titled the ‘152 Brazilian Artists Pokedex Project’.

Organized by Rio de Janeiro-based 2Minds Studio, the mega collaboration saw 152 Brazilian artists put their own spin on beloved characters like Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Squirtle, and Mew, and the results are a captivating mix of styles, techniques, and colors. It’s a fascinating look at the familiar world of Pokémon through the eyes of a different culture.

Check out some drawings below and head over to the project’s Behance page to view the complete collection of redesigned Pokémon.
