An Unusual Curvy Hotel That Wraps Around A Rocky Norwegian Island

Architecture firm Snøhetta has unveiled photos of a curvy hotel that wraps around a rocky Norwegian island.

Located on Glåpen, an outlying area of the Lofoten archipelago, the 11,000 square-meter Lofoten Opera Hotel will loop around a central courtyard. It is surrounded by the sea to the south and west, and flanked by mountain ranges to the north and northwest.

The unusual building will accommodate a mix of hotels, apartments, spa facilities, seawater basins, hiking resources and an amphitheater.

According to Snøhetta, the circular shape of the hotel is aimed at providing guests with an amazing immersive experience of being “in the middle” of the elements.

Work on the hotel is currently on-going and no completion date has been announced yet.

With its spectacular location and magnificent views of the natural environment, it looks set to attract both nature-lovers and urbanites looking to get away from the city.

What do you think of the hotel’s design? Would you stay there?
