Photographer Releases An Intimate Series Documenting His Past Heroin Addiction

New York-based Scottish photographer Graham MacIndoe, whom we have previously featured, has recently released a series of photographs documenting his past heroin addiction.

It is part of an interview with ex-girlfriend and New York Magazine reporter Susan Stellin in which he opens up about the destructiveness of his drug use, and the negative impact it has had on his relationships.

The intimate, heartbreaking images were taken with a cheap digital camera timed to take periodic shots. He would place it on a table or bookshelf before going about the motions of his drug habit.

Stellin says of the photographs, “To anyone who knows him, these photographs are a painful reminder of a dark, difficult era, but they also exhibit signs of hope: that Graham wanted to live to show them someday.”
