The Houses Famous Artists Would Build If They Had Been Architects

We have previously featured the work of Federico Babina. Now, the architect and illustrator imagines the houses famous artists would build if they had been architects.

It is apparent that Babina is well-versed in art history, transferring the distinct style of Piet Mondrian’s minimal paintings to a square building. He has also translated the vibrance of Andy Warhol’s colors to architecture.

According to the illustrator, the “Archist” series shows that “art and architecture are disciplines that speak and lightly touch each other, the definition and function of the architecture are changing constantly with the development of contemporary art.” He has managed to capture this “symbiotic relationship and implicit partnership” between these two disciplines.

Indeed, these thought-provoking illustrations certainly fire up our imagination—we wonder what living in each of these houses would be like.
