To remain competitive in the increasingly crowded Android tablet market, Toy retailer Toys ‘R’ Us has announced the introduction of a new seven-inch tablet for kids.
Called the ‘Tabeo’, the device will be aimed solely at young tots—complete with a specialized browser interface and controls for kids, pre-loaded education apps and an app store with over 7,000 free apps and ‘thousands’ others that are available for purchase.
Popular games such as, ‘Angry Birds’, ‘Temple Run’ and Fruit Ninja will also be included in the app store to keep kids entertained for hours.
According to the Washington Post, the tablet will run on a version of the Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and it will even allow kids to connect to the internet via WiFi.
Parents can also limit the amount of time their kids can spend playing the device by setting access limitations for certain days of the week or hours of the day.
They can even program email alerts if their tots somehow manage to find their way around the limitations.
According to Toys ‘R’ Us, the Tabeo is currently available for pre-order with its shipping date set on 1st October 2012.
Each Tabeo tablet will be price at USD$150.
