Billboard magazine and Ogilvy & Mather have come up a “fan check machine” that dispenses a free copy of Billboard to true music lovers residing in Brazil.

Anyone passing by can plug in their iPod into the machine, with the machine checking to see if these “fans” have more than 20 songs sung by the musician on Billboard’s cover.

If this is so, it will dispense a free copy of the magazine, and if that person is not a “true fan”, his or her request is denied.

Although having a certain amount of songs by a musician does not truly determine who a “true fan”, this creative ad campaign encourages music ownership and celebrates the printed word.
