Move aside Grumpy Cat, because there’s a new top cat in town.

Called ‘Colonel Meow’, the Guinness World Records has officially declared him as the cat with the world’s longest fur.

Owned by Anne Marie Avey and Eric Rosario, the two-year-old Himalayan-Persian cross-breed has a whooping fur length of 9-inches.

Adopted from the Himalayan & Persian Society, the ‘Colonel’ needs to have his fur brushed two to three times a week, and it takes both owners to finish the job.

According to Craig Glenday—the Guinness World Records Editor-in-Chief—he said, “Colonel Meow is being groomed for stardom, and I know the furry feline will be a big hit with readers.”

“He’s an incredible creature, and he’ll undoubtedly inspire people all around the world to whip out their rulers and start measuring their own cat’s fur. We’re pleased to welcome him into the Guinness World Records family.”

Before his inclusion into the record book, Colonel Meow was already considered an “internet sensation”—with his own website, Facebook page and YouTube channel, which has over two million views.

Which do you think is cuter? Grumpy Cat or the ‘Colonel’?
