In the city of York, Alabama, artist Matthew Mazzotta has collaborated with the Coleman Center for the Arts to install a morphing architectural sculpture of a little house that unfolds into an outdoor theater that seats 100 people.
This fascinating, puzzle-like house opens up to reveal benches that look like church pews—the open space in front of these seats could be used to stage performances like plays and concerts.
The land, on which the “Open House” installation is set up, used to occupied by an abandoned house—the project effectively transformed the plot from a derelict private space into a public space that is conducive for creativity.
