New York City-based designer Michael Yap and Portland-based coder Jeremy Weikel—self-proclaimed “makers of fine datea products”—have developed the “Etch Map”, a customizable printed map that visualizes your Foursquare check-ins in Manhattan, Portland and San Francisco.
With the rise of social media, personal data has flooded the internet—why not turn yours into a beautiful physical map on which your favorite places in a beloved city is marked and commemorated?
To create your own Etch map, simply log in to Foursquare, choose a city and the color scheme you want, and start dropping place-markers.
Not only are these maps good-looking representations of your footsteps, they can also serve to preserve one’s experience of the city and help to tell your story.
Etch maps are printed by craftsmen onto fingerprint and smudge-resistant art paper with state-of-the-art digital presses—find out more about how you can have your personal Etch map made here.
