‘Real Life WK’ is a collaboration among Wieden+Kennedy London, graphic designer Emily Alston and 3D artist Laurie, in which they create a pop-up office space as an intriguing window display.
As part of W+K’s ‘Hello Neighbor’ project—that aims to showcase local artists and entertain passersby, according to Creative Review—the installation that appears to be two-dimensional, makes W+K employees feel like they’re in a comic book when they use the window display-cum-office space.
W+K employees take turns to work within the window display of W+K’s London headquarters—that’s made using paper and card in only black and white colors to give the stark monochromatic yet playful graphic effect, reminiscent of the 2D-world of old cartoons and comics.
The artistic duo Alston and Laurie also installed interesting, constantly-moving details: such as a phone that rocks to make it seem as if it’s ringing, a clock that runs backwards, and a lamp that switches on and off.
Passers-by can approach Hanbury Street, and internet users can log on to Real Life WK, to watch an ad person working—doing miscellaneous work things, such as looking through emails—but they’d be there only during office hours (what, no overtime entertainment?).
How fun would it be to work in a space that looks like an oversized comic book?
