A German team of developers named PediaPress has gone on Indiegogo to raise funds for a massive million-paged printed version of the entire English Wikipedia.

To contain the extremely large amount of information found on the constantly evolving website, a thousand volumes of 1,200 pages each would be required—they would take up about 80 meters of shelf space.

PediaPress founder Christoph Kepper states that the goal of the project is to “allow everyone to explore the physical dimensions of Wikipedia”—it would definitely make a huge visual statement about the staggering amount of information it contains.

Aware of the criticisms that a printed Wikipedia would receive for the amount of paper it would use, the group plans to plant trees to make up for the materials needed for the project.

With about 11 days to go until the end of the crowd-funding event, the PediaPress team still has quite some way to go before reaching their goal—would you pledge for it?
