California-based artist Sam Larson has a lovely on-going series where he creates wonderful detailed miniature illustrations that are smaller than a penny.
Larson documents his drawings on Instagram, and each illustration is accompanied by a penny to prove it really is that tiny. They are influenced by nature and the American West, and mostly feature mountains, rivers, bison and cowboys.
He started the series in 2013 after a five-year break from creating art and posted a photo nightly, stating that it was the encouragement he received that kept him going.
