Sale Of These Depressing Cupcakes Help Raise Funds For Mental Health Charities

The Depressed Cake Shop is a charity project started by Miss Cakehead, and it is a unique pop-up cake shop in London where cupcakes are created for depressives.

Every cake on sale is grey in color on the outside to represent, with a pop of color on the inside. The movement aims to raise awareness of mental illness and create conversation around depression.

But why baking? ‘Because it has long been thought to be therapeutic for depression sufferers’, says creative director of Miss Cakehead, Emma Thomas.

The cakes on sale will be made by both professionals and amateur bakers and 'Depressed Cake Shop' pop- up stalls will open across the UK in August.

All profits from the sale will go back into mental health charities, or fund baking therapy sessions.
