X-Ray Photos Reveal What Makes A Space Suit

If you have ever wondered what materials make up a space suit to make it formidable enough for space, this new exhibit at the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C., will allow you to take a look at what’s in the suit—literally.

Titled ‘Suited for Space’, the exhibition follows the evolution of the space suit over time. One of the many interesting exhibits show the anatomy of the space suit through x-ray vision, revealing aluminium coils and tubes.

Normally, that would be an unlikely choice for an outfit, but because of the air pressure and different climate in space, these extra materials are weightless in that atmosphere.

The exhibition is ongoing until December 1, following which, it will continue to Tampa, Philadelphia, and Seattle.
