Most people would cringe at the thought of having ants on the dinner plate, but not German artist Evelyn Bracklow of La Philie. The artist has designed a unique set of vintage porcelain dishware that is covered with hand-painted ants.
Called ‘Chitins Glanz’, the idea for the set came about by “pure chance” when Bracklow saw a “carelessly placed plate” covered with ants.
Intrigued by the sight, she wanted to conserve the image and feelings of “fear, disgust, fascination and admiration”.
Painted by hand, each porcelain piece is so beautifully executed that you would think the ants were real.
