Revealing Black And White Photos Explore The Constraints Of Male Dancers

New York-based photographer Nir Arieli, who previously created these layered pictures of people dancing, has a series of photographs that explores the fragility and constraints of contemporary male dancers.

Titled ‘Inframen’, the images were created using an infrared technique that “reveals details that are under the subject’s abused skin”.

Taking his subjects out of their roles as performers, he reveals personal and intimate details of the individual by showing the blemishes, scars and stretch marks on their bodies.

According to his artist statement, he said, “The dancers, with their calloused exterior and sensitive character, represent the tenuous relationship between the strength of the body and the fragility of the soul”.
