An Enchanting, Fairytale-Like Costume With A Cascading Trail Of 1,000 Flowers

British photographer Kirsty Mitchell, whom we have previously featured, has a stunning new addition to her fantastic ‘Wonderland’ series of fairytale-inspired photographs.

Titled The Last Dance of the Flowers, it shows a beautiful cascading trail of 1,000 freshly-cut purple flowers that appear to rise from the forest floor and merge into the model’s coat.

Mitchell and her crew spent four hours cutting and collecting the flowers from early morning, and another three-and-a-half hours building the set.

The hardest part was racing against the clock and ensuring all the elements were in place for the 6:30pm shoot, said Mitchell in an interview with My Modern Met.

“First of all, the flowers were very delicate so the moment they were cut they started going limp. It took four hours of physical clambering around in the woods, climbing trees, and muddy banks, getting covered in dirt and sap, so trying to do this carefully and not damage the petals was tough.”

It was also a challenge creating the flower trail and getting everybody in position to capture the exact moment the sun hit.

Mitchell and her team’s hard work paid off–the picture is absolutely breath-taking, and what’s even more incredible is that there was no Photoshop involved at all.

Check out some behind-the-scenes photos of the shoot below and view more ethereal photos from her ‘Wonderland’ series at her website.
