Street Artist Replaces Billboards In Milan With Classical Paintings

French street artist Etienne Lavie, who previously replaced billboards in Paris with classical paintings, has struck again in Milan.

In his new series ‘OMG Who Stole My Ads? Milano’, he swaps outdoor advertisements for famous works of art in the outdoor plazas and train stations of the Italian city. Apart from brightening the surroundings, the paintings can be viewed as social commentary on the crass advertising messages we are subjected to everyday.

With his playfully defiant anti-consumerist streak, we wonder which city the artist will turn into an outdoor gallery next.

Check out his artworks below and view more at his website.

Wouldn’t you like to have these beautiful paintings adorning your city instead of the usual commercialized billboards?
