Hyperrealistic Paintings Of Famous Landmarks Reflected In Sunglasses

After completing his first work of art in 2008, English painter Simon Hennessey realized that painting famous landmarks reflected in sunglasses allowed him to distort the shape and form of these iconic structures.

Since then, he has completed many of these hyperrealistic works of art, using multiple photographs for reference as he wants his paintings to go beyond what a camera does.

His other tools of the trade include acrylic paint and an airbrush, and each painting takes two weeks to seven months to complete.

Over the last five years, Hennessey has painted the Big Ben, London’s Tower Bridge, the New York City skyline and the Eiffel Tower—all within these distorted frames.

Although he has had some success, many detractors have questioned the purpose of his works since it’s faster to take a picture.
