As part of their “Facing Change” series, San Francisco-based online magazine The Bold Italic gave eight long-haired men feminine makeovers by styling their hair into elaborate lady updos.
The result is a hilarious photo essay that features various common hairstyles for women—such as the youthful “Junior Prom” and sexy “Brigitte Bardot”—only now, they are done on men.
While these looks are unexpected and a little jarring, they do make us wonder why such fancy hair-styling is conventionally the exclusive purview of the ladies when there are plenty of men with long hair these days—“I'm not sure how ladies got to hoard all of hair's styling potential when men can grow hair out of their faces.”
