Frankie the dog
South African artist LeRoc, whose real name is Eben Cavanagh Rautenbach, creates gorgeously detailed illustrations on wood with a soldering iron.
This practice of decorative burning is known as pyrography or pyrogravure. He started out making illustrations with a lighter, nail and a pair of pliers until his aunt gave him an old soldering iron.
LeRoc credits his influences to his graffiti background and the beauty of nature – he lives next to a forest in Scotland and said, “It’s this easy access to nature that keeps me inspired.”
