The BBC is experimenting with distributing short-form news stories via videos on Instagram.
‘Instafax’ which debuted on 16 January, condenses complex news stories into brief and easily understood summaries for readers on the go. It will also direct them to the full stories on the BBC’s website.
The BBC isn’t the first organization to disseminate news through social media; NowThisNews utilizes Instagram to deliver content as well.
With more people viewing news on their mobile phones and tablets, and a trend towards shorter and multimedia-rich content, it will be interesting to see how this experiment pans out.
