In New York City, A Pharmacy That Prescribes Cocktails For Ailments

After working at pharmacies for 15 years, 39-year-old Stanley George decided to open his very own, one-of-a-kind pharmacy.

Located on the corner of Ludlow and Hester streets in New York City’s Lower East side, George’s pharmacy is different from others as he will prescribe cocktails for any ailment that you have.

Part of his “Drinks + Drugs menu”, his pharmacy also serves hot and cold herbal teas, espresso and artisanal sodas made with organic fruits and sugars. These beverages can be used to cure the many ailments that afflict us, including headaches, hangovers, and allergies.

George maintains that “It is all about feeling good,” and hopes that a pharmacy will feel like those of a bygone era, “when you knew the pharmacist by name and the pharmacy was a neighborhood meeting place.”

The interior of the pharmacy seems to reflect this, and is dubbed “1970s California cool”, by the New York Times Style Magazine. There is also a gold “wellness bar” and a panoramic ocean wall to comfort would-be patients.

Designed by Leane Brenes the founder of the creative agency Brenesco, this cool hangout is a far cry from the awkward and sterile environments one has come to associate pharmacies with.

Stanley George’s pharmacy will open early in June this year.
