Dermablend Professional has come up with a powerful way to advertise for its cosmetics. The brand, known for its corrective cosmetics that help people cover up a wide variety of skin conditions, features two women fighting against the stigma that comes with acne and vitiligo.
With the help of Agence Tuxedo, popular YouTuber and model Cassandra Bankson and Cheri Lindsay talk about how loved ones and passers-by have reacted to their conditions.
Bankson, who has severe acne, talked about her lack of self-esteem, and Lindsay, who has vitiligo—a disease in which brown skin pigment is lost—spoke of how the condition did not stop her from being a successful and happy person.
“I used to use makeup to cover up and to hide who I was. Now I use it to express myself and show the world who I truly am,” stated Bankson.
In an increasingly superficial world, these inspiring “Camo Confessions” show us that it is all right to have flaws, and that what matters is the person on the inside. With this campaign, the company shows that we can “blend in to stand out”—although this sentiment may seem contradictory, it is empowering because of the heartfelt way in which this message is delivered.
