Designer Creates A Stunning Geometric Design Everyday For A Year

141/365 Handsome II

New York-based designer and illustrator Justin Maller has a recently-completed project titled ‘Facets’ in which he was challenged by his girlfriend to create a piece of artwork everyday for 12 months.

In his project, Maller explores abstract designs, animal forms and logos. According to an interview with Creative Bloq, he started off experimenting with abstract versions of animal-design clothing from online Australian swimwear boutique We Are Handsome, but was prompted by Jeremy Somers from the label to try his hand at a more literal approach, giving rise to an illustrative style.

With his brilliant use of color, attention to detail and beautiful intricate shapes, browsing through Maller’s collection makes for a gorgeous visual treat. Each artwork is centered around a word or phrase like ‘Paracosm’ and ‘Dusk Garden’. Some designs are straightforward interpretations, such as a rooster for ‘Cock’ and an ampersand for ‘And?’, while others like ‘Ghosts’ and ‘Unicorn’ are more abstract.
