Film-maker Mark Cersosimo, who works at Vimeo, has directed a brilliant short documentary about C.D. Hermelin, who is also known as “The Roving Typist”.
Based in New York City, Hermelin is a short story writer who has a very unconventional way of producing his work—he goes to city parks with his typewriter and offers to write spontaneous stories for strangers.
To receive a story, you simply have to tell this creative typist what you would like your story to be about and then pay what you like for it.
If you are not living in NYC or cannot seem to find Hermelin in any of its parks, you can also request for a story online here and he would send it to you via post.
