Modern, Pixelated Pictures Of Old Hollywood Stars Made By Layering Packing Tape

Ukrainian-based artist Mark Khaisman’s latest project is a series of unusual portraits of Classic Era and Film Noir Hollywood stars that are made by layering packing tape.

After hand-rolling the tape, he then removes strategic parts in order to allow light to shine through each portrait, creating lines, texture and various depths of shading.

The pixelated effect of these images adds a modern touch to the iconic faces and scenes they depict—featuring Grace Kelly to James Dean, these pictures are both familiar and refreshing at the same time.

See more from the artist’s “Stills” series below—isn’t it amazing what one can create with something as ordinary as packing tape?
