Unique Double Versions Of The Same Image Created From Torn Polaroids

Polaroid of Mendocino Coast

Dusseldorf-based photographer Tanja Deuss has a fascinating on-going series titled ‘Abheben’ in which she creates unusual images using unconventional processing techniques.

Deuss first photographs landscapes and objects with her Polaroid SX-70 camera. Once the film develops, she rips the paper off and uses the emulsion layer to imprint images onto hand-made paper. The resulting photos are two unique versions of the same image, the original Polaroid and the second emulsion copy showing the tears, scratches and warped tones created from the process.
