Inspired by medieval maps that featured mythical sea creatures, Reykjavik-based Icelandic graphic designer and illustrator Stella Björg embarked on a typeface illustration project titled “There Be Monsters”.
Each letter of the alphabet has been creatively reimagined to depict a fearsome-looking sea monster—the designer has also made use of elements like water, boats and smaller fishes to complete her letter forms.
While the resulting alphabet poster that came out of this project may be a little too scary for little children, it would be a great gift for an adult who enjoy fantastical tales that are filled with nightmarish beasts.
