Architect and illustrator Federico Babina has followed up his previous architecture-inspired work with another stunning series titled ‘Archiportraits’ that imagines the portraits of famous architects designed in the style of their buildings.
He has turned 33 prominent architects like Zaha Hadid, Frank Lloyd Wright and Tadao Ando into abstract compositions, with their eyes, noses, facial features and hair created from windows, columns, staircases and floor plans.
The resulting images do a fantastic job at integrating features of their famous buildings to convey the personality and likeness of each architect; the Sagrada Família forms the chin and neck of Antonio Gaudi while the Gherkin doubles as Norman Foster’s nose.
“A portrait is like the mirror of the soul. The shapes and geometries that are designed by the architect become features for drawing his (or her) face.”
