We have previously featured James Chapman’s illustrations that teach us how to sneeze and eat in different languages. Now, he’s cataloged the different ways of snoring and shushing people in in a variety of vernaculars.
The Japanese say “Gu gu” to imitate someone’s snores, while the Polish say “Chrr”. The French say “Chut” when asking people to be quiet, whereas the Thais say, “Chu Chu.”
How do you snore and shush people in your language?
