Hailing from Vienna, taliaYstudio has created playful devices that come to life by touch. These products consist of a magnifying glass that “lights up” the object you are viewing, a “lollipop” that glows when you stroke it, and a camera that lets you take a picture with a kiss.

The team worked with OLED manufacturer OSRAM to showcase what can be done with transparent OLEDs, coming up with innovative ways to turn on and off these devices.

The first of these “Holdables” is called the “MonOled”, and can be pinned to your shirt. It lights up once you touch it, and makes the object you are viewing through the lens glow.

The second of these products is a brooch named “SAD Lolly”, and is especially useful for people who have Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). The user has to stroke the device to make it light up and hold it to his or her eye. The light will ensure that the user cheers up during dreary winter months.

The “Kiss Cam” was inspired by the language of social media, and lets the user capture an image by kissing the OLED viewfinder. The camera and its filters can be worn as jewelry—the filters can be fitted over the lens to mimic those on Instagram.

Talia Radford, who is part of the design studio, commented that these devices are meant to make fun of wearable technology. The designers found “the current wave of wearable tech frenzy mostly insensitive, unspecific and often looking like generic sh*t,”—by changing how wearable technology looks like, these inspiring products and show us what wearable technology can do.
