Architecture Student Transforms Old School Bus Into Gorgeous Mobile Home

Architecture student Hank Butitta bought an old school bus off Craiglist for US$3,000, and used it in his final project—simply named “Hank Bought A Bus”—where he will try to convert it into a beautiful and comfortable mobile home.

After 14 weeks of slogging away at the project, with the help of his brother Vince and his photographer friend Justin Evidon, he has managed to design and build a gorgeous and modern home in the bus, complete with a living space, bathroom, kitchen, work space and storage spaces.

The interior of the bus is lined with plywood and feature stripped gym flooring, which give the space a warm and stylish feel—Butitta has even cut a skylight in the roof of the bus that lets in light and perhaps, a wonderful view of a starry night sky.

Having completed his make-over project, Butitta is bringing his bus-home on a 8-month, 5,000-mile journey across the U.S.A that will bring him to national parks and major cities.

He has only recently embarked on this journey—you can keep up with his travel experiences on his blog.
